When I began at Patch, design was a part of the process - not an active stakeholder. As of today, much of that has changed.
For years Patch had been suffering from siloed projects, this meant there was very little unity between pages - and therefore clarity for the user. My design team developed clear visual language that users could learn and rely on easily.
Above to the left you can see just some of the many button styles used before we began. On the right, some of the changes and defined rules. The brand colors (green) would only be used when we the brand are “speaking” to the user, either via section headings, subscription modals, or active states. Buttons would always be the same rich blue, to allow all visitors could see them, regardless of their vision quality.
